旅 [lui21] is a common morpheme in modern Chinese.  Meaning travel,  旅 is a component of compound words such as 旅行 travel, 旅馆 hotel, and 旅伴 traveling companionIt is a military unit when used alone as a monosyllable noun -- usually translated to brigade. Another popular usage of late is +之旅 i.e. 台山之旅 a trip to Taishan, a usage (re)imported from Japanese.

In Taishanese, 旅 is the equivalent of the English verb go, corresponds to 去 in Mandarin and Cantonese.  In most cases, 去[hui33] can be used interchangeably with 旅, reflecting the Cantonese/Mandarin influence.
旅咯! 旅街咯! [lui21 lɔ55 lui22 gai21555Let's go! Let's go out! 
今日旅等城. [gim33 ŋit21 lui2155 siaŋ225] We are going to the farmer's market in Taishan City today. 
天早旅纽约撩.  [hein32 dɔu55 lui21 niu55 yiak55 lɔu21] (We're) going to New York (for pleasure) tomorrow.
It can be used to indicate future action or state change involving going to a different place -- kind of like a limited version of  to be going to in English.
阿女六岁咯. 就旅返馆咯. [a33 nui55 lək32 ɬui3333 diu32 lui21 fan33 gɔn5533]
(My) daughter is six already. She's going to school soon. 
晏咯.  我旅瞓咯. [an3355 ŋɔi33 lui21 fun3333]  It's getting late. I'm going to bed.
 is also a preposition of direction (i.e.  to in English), and used with verbs such as 走 go, 行 walk, 上 go up, 落 go down, 返 return, 出 go out, 入 go in, etc.
返旅归. [fan33 lui21 gi33] Going back home 
走旅逽企作棋好嘛? [dəu55 lui21 niak21 ki55 dɔk33 ki225 hɔu55 ma33]
How about going to your place to play chess? 
暑假落旅墨西哥. [si55 ga55 lɔk32 lui21 mak32 ɬai3355] Going down to Mexico for the summer vacation.
In fact, many verbs that describe directional movements -- including the 上, 落, 返,  出, and 入 listed above -- are also prepositions of direction.
